English Conversation Club: Five Lessons for Life from the Volunteers

Every child deserves the chance to grow with confidence, curiosity, and the right tools to shape their own future. In the Future Acceleration Program, one of the powerful tools we offer the kids is the English Conversation Club, a space where language learning becomes an adventure of connection, discovery, and inspiration.

Between June and July this year, 76 teenagers aged 11 to 14 gathered online weekly to practice conversational English in a fun, friendly space. Split into two groups based on their language level: beginners and pre-intermediate & intermediate—the children took part in four spirited sessions designed to help them find their voice in English and gain the courage to use it.

Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers from the global community of UiPath employees, English was a gateway to new ideas, inspiring stories, and valuable life lessons here. Through their personal journeys, our volunteers showed the teens what it means to persevere, dream big, and connect meaningfully with the world around them.

The 5 Lessons that Will Stay with Our Young Learners

1. If you really want to do something, keep going—no matter how long it takes.
Sometimes you need more practice, more education, or simply more time. Even when school brings challenges, staying motivated and seeking out learning opportunities can lead to extraordinary achievements—like landing your dream job.

2. Even if you don’t win, you can still feel proud.
Trophies are nice, but they are not the only measure of success. Doing your best, being a great teammate, and enjoying the experience matter far more. Each effort helps you grow, fuels your motivation, and builds memories that last longer than any medal.

3. Helping others will help you grow too.
When you focus on making a positive impact in someone else’s life, you also shape your own character. Kindness and generosity leave a mark—not only on the people you help, but on the person you become.

4. The world is bigger than you think—go explore it.
Making friends from different cultures and experiencing new traditions can open your mind in powerful ways. Learning from others’ perspectives makes the world richer, and it can change how you see your own place in it.

5. Stepping out of your comfort zone is how you grow.
Moving to a new city, traveling abroad, or taking on a challenge can be daunting. But by adapting to new situations, you become stronger, more resilient, and more confident in facing whatever comes next.

For many of these kids, the English Conversation Club is more than a chance to practice pronunciation or learn new words. It’s a safe place to share ideas, laugh, make mistakes without fear, and discover the joy of speaking up. Guided by our volunteers, each session covered exciting topics like:

🗺️ Around the World
🍜 Food & Drinks
🤖 Inventions & Devices
🛰️ Technology

The result? Conversations that spark curiosity and bring new words to life.

From the very first meeting, volunteers introduced themselves through short personal stories—moments of challenge, perseverance, and courage. These stories became powerful reminders for the children that success has many paths, and that they are never alone on theirs.

Afterwards, everyone moves into smaller breakout groups of 10 to 15 children with one volunteer. Here, conversations feel easy and natural — every child gets the opportunity to speak, ask questions, and learn from each other, supported by a caring guide who helps their confidence bloom

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all our volunteers for their time, dedication, and for being excellent role models. This year, we were lucky to have the kindness and experience of Andreea Călușeri, Wadzanai Mhuka, Roxana Iftime, Andreea Trandafir, Corina Băcanu, Georgeta Gheorghe, Alina Marin, Jonathan Salter, Kamini Gupta, Sidharth Bamzai, Larisa Povarna, Praveena Kolluri, Mathias Schotte, Angelica Svolos, Naveen Sathyamoorthy, Ana Tănase. Each of you has shown our young learners that big dreams can become reality with determination, empathy, and curiosity.

Our Volunteers

This enriching experience is curated by Ana Maria Păun, trainer at A_BEST, one of the biggest independent foreign language centers in Romania. They generously gifted this experience to the kids, from designing the methodology to facilitating the sessions and moderating the practical exercises.

If you want to be part of the next English Conversation Club, we’d love to have you join us. The global UiPath community of employees can sign up for any of our volunteering opportunities by contacting our Volunteering Program Manager, Magda Țucăr.
