About the Program

Own Your Path is UiPath Foundation’s latest program. Launched in 2023, it is dedicated to high school students from underserved communities across 20 counties in Romania.

In 2024, over 1,000 high school students gained access to the Own Your Path Digital Educational Platform to participate in English, programming, and Artificial Intelligence courses. They also receive a monthly scholarship and a tablet with internet access.

The program aims to help high schoolers develop 21st-century skills, enabling them to graduate better equipped to navigate an uncertain and ever-changing world.

Own Your Path helps students from rural areas and small towns in Romania access quality educational resources and connect with their peers through the platform’s forums.

About the High Schoolers

To be accepted into the Own Your Path program, high school students are evaluated based on a set of criteria, including financial status, academic performance, age, and their interest in furthering their education. To build an accurate student profile, we rely on a network of 83 Partner High Schools and a community of 135 Partner Teachers in 2024.

Who are the teenagers in the Own Your Path program?

Accepted to high school with a specific GPA (eligible to remain in the program until graduation)
From either a large or small urban area or a rural environment
From a family whose income falls within the threshold established by the OECD equivalence scale
Motivated to learn and eager to develop 21st-century skills
Advances through each school year with at least 90% attendance
Participates in at least 70% of the program’s activities

We’ve had the immense pleasure of meeting some of the students in the program through online community interactions and during our annual school visits. We got to know youth who are universally curious, resilient, and eager to expand their circle of friends.

Most students are excited about the opportunity to connect with peers from different regions and to learn English from native speakers, programming from developers, and AI from professionals working in the tech industry.

Projects

The Own Your Path program would not be possible without the involvement of UiPath volunteers. They helped us develop the e-learning platform that enables us to manage the program and deliver online educational opportunities. They also create automations that streamline administrative work for our team, provide legal counseling to ensure smooth operations, serve as trainers for our programming and AI courses, and act as inspirational speakers for the young people in our programs.

Our Partner Teachers are volunteers as well. They are an extension of our team at the grassroots level and have been at our side from the very beginning of the program.

Whether they teach at theoretical, technological, or vocational high schools, in rural or urban areas, as principals, vice principals, educational counselors, or teachers of social sciences or STEM subjects, every one of them accepted to be a part of our program, as volunteers, committed to bring new opportunities to their students.

Volunteers are like a satellite team in the program; their contribution is priceless. Only with their help can we organize projects on relevant themes and topics of interest for the youth in our programs.

Storybook Teachers

We have an extraordinary community of educators who see teaching as a calling and skillfully guide our high schoolers on their journey to maturity. To honor their dedication and as a token of our appreciation for their day-to-day work alongside us, we created a series of articles—one for each of the 20 counties where we operate—highlighting the impactful stories of our Partner Teachers.

Path to Code

This project started as a programming course for 60 high school students interested in coding. Developed and delivered entirely by UiPath volunteers, from curriculum design, lesson plans, and monitoring to teaching the students, everything is possible thanks to our volunteers’ generosity and willingness to share their expertise with the high schoolers in the program.

Sense of Possibility

This initiative helps students connect with a sense of possibility—the belief that a bright future is within reach and confidence that there are unlimited opportunities for innovation and progress. We achieve this by organizing online webinars and discussions on our platform’s forum, covering technology and other fields that interest students.

AI Generation

A pilot project where students enroll in an AI skills course developed by the App Inventor Foundation. Structured into three modules, the course combines instructor-led sessions and weekly assignments, equipping students with AI knowledge to bridge the digital divide.

Community Meetings

A core goal of Own Your Path is to foster a sense of belonging and create connections that inspire and motivate students. Through community meetups, students get to know each other, share experiences, and build relationships while our team gains a deeper understanding of their challenges and needs.

Community-building for Partner Teachers

To strengthen our network of Partner High Schools, we focus on engaging teachers by providing growth opportunities and creating spaces for collaboration within our broader partner community.
