For Children

RPA Workshops

Between May and August 2020, we organized six engaging workshops about Robotic Process Automation, or RPA, for all the children enrolled in the Foundation’s education programs, with the help of a team of four UiPath volunteers.

These sessions introduced the kids to the exciting world of RPA showcasing real-life automations and bringing the learning experience to life through interactive games like Marty the Martian. The impact was immediate and profound, and children’s enthusiasm and positive feedback highlighted a deep interest in continuing their journey into technology.

RPA for Kids Pilot Workshop

We’d been considering developing an extended RPA course for kids for some time, so starting in spring 2021, we created a course structure and a technical requirements list. Our volunteers adapted the RPA for Kids course on UiPath Academy to the children’s day-to-day realities. We selected a group of ten interested teenagers based on their motivation to participate, level of digital literacy, internet connection quality, minimum hardware and software requirements on their PC/laptop, and elementary level of English.

Over the summer, we held 8 Workshops taught by 7 RPA specialists from UiPath.
The kids got acquainted with UiPath’s StudioX, learned to identify tasks suited for automation, and designed and developed simple automation projects using basic programming concepts.

Online Safety Workshops

In 2021, we collaborated with Save the Children Romania’s Internet Hour educational program. 121 children from the Future Acceleration Program attended their online workshops, where they learned about online identity and security in a playful, interactive learning experience.

The children from the Future Acceleration Program received tablets with internet access to support their educational journey. These devices are constantly monitored and secured, but the kids had other personal or family devices that they used for playing games or communicating on social media, that exposed them to many risks online. This initiative came at a time when children needed it most, after the pandemic had shifted school online, so kids spent more time on the internet than ever.

U&I Summer Camp Digital Skills Workshops

The annual U&I Summer Camp is a great opportunity for all the kids enrolled in the Future Acceleration Program across Romania to tap into some of the most ingenious digital innovations in education.

One of the most important learning tracks in the U&I Summer Camp is focused on digital literacy. Since 2019, the children have attended sessions focused on Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, as well as interactive sessions with actual robotic devices.

For Teachers

Digital Literacy Scholarship Program

In 2020, we awarded 450 scholarships for teachers across Romania to attend the first Digital Literacy training course dedicated to educators certified by the Ministry of Education. The course enabled teachers in some of the country’s most marginalised communities to adapt quickly to the requirements of online learning processes and keep up with students’ digital demands.

This initiative was a component of our partnership with Digital Nation, a Romanian non-profit organization focused on enhancing tech literacy at the national level.

Digitalization of Learning Webinar

During the first 6 months of the pandemic, we assessed the need for digital education tools and devised a plan to curate a Webinar on the most useful digital tools.
We tapped into our global community of UiPath volunteers to find the best-suited individuals to create and curate a practical Webinar on the most useful digital tools that could assist teachers during their online classes.

More than 1200 teachers joined the session, and a resource kit  was then available to teachers across Romania. This initiative was a component of our partnership with Digital Nation, a Romanian non-profit organization focused on enhancing tech literacy at the national level.
